Uniting the Hawaii Community & Raising Awareness for Those in Need
About Us
At the age of 28, Leian worked at a US Embassy in an Islamic country, for which she acquired security clearance and received vital training which led to being more involved with and serving the community, especially those in need. This experience helped Leian build relationships with multiple countries and an array of people as she kept up with foreign affairs and assisted those working at the embassy with housing needs.
Leian grew up on a farm with no running water or electricity. At age 13, Leian went to live with her grandmother who taught her the real value of life. Leian’s grandmother fed her with wisdom that guided her to be where she is right now.
Leian’s humble beginnings taught her to look after the people that need help and support. She started assisting the community at the young age of 18, in the Philippines and actively helping the “bahay puso” charity organization.
During Leian’s affiliation at the US Embassy in Jakarta Indonesia, she orchestrated the A Team Recycling Program, benefiting the Dharmais Cancerous Children Ward that opened her desire to do more and give the best she can.
Leian moved to Oahu Hawaii in 2010 and started volunteering for homelessness and helping with food distributions. She also was involved with the outreach that catered to military transitioning to Oahu.
Leian made an oath that each business transaction would have a percentage donated to create community projects, benefiting those in need.
Leian wanted to give back more, which motivated her to form the Helping Ohana, founded in 2021. Helping Ohana is raising awareness and assisting with funds to support charity organizations throughout the islands. April 2022 was Helping Ohana’s first big project with Untrafficked, an organization to fight human trafficking and rehabilitate those who were rescued.
The wisdom that Leian’s grandmother taught her growing up, that “Success is determined by the lives that you touch for the better” We are all connected and responsible to one another and as founder of Helping Ohana this is one of her “Why’s” and “Reasons” to push herself to be better and do better for the community.
